I have good news to announce. I’ve signed an eight book contract with Thomas and Mercer. They will be republishing my Dorchester thrillers and two of my short story collections and two new novels. And for all those people that have been asking, this deal includes an audio deal with Brilliance and Audible.com. This has been a deal long in the making, so I’m glad that everything has been squared away. Anyway, here’s the official announcement:

Anthony Award winner and author of more than a dozen books and over one hundred short stories, Simon Wood’s new titles, INFIDELITY LIMITED, about a violent Ponzi scheme a twice-widowed woman falls prey to, and THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY, in which a young woman must choose whether to save herself or save her friend when the two are abducted, and the terrifying consequences of her decision, as well as six backlist titles, ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN, PAYING THE PIPER, WE ALL FALL DOWN, TERMINATED, ASKING FOR TROUBLE, and DRAGGED INTO DARKNESS, to Andrew Bartlett at Thomas & Mercer, by Amy Rennert at the Amy Rennert Agency.

The books will start appearing in November.

This is a new feature monthly feature. Over the course of the month, I’ll share some insights to the book that will hopefully give people a feel for why it was written.

Accidents Waiting to Happen is my first choice for my Book of the Month. It’s a natural choice as it was my first book to be published. It’s been pretty hard to get a hold of a copy over the last six months, but I’ve resurrected it as an eBook, while work begins on finding a new publisher for print and audio formats.

Storyline: Josh Michaels is worth more dead than alive. He just doesn’t know it yet. He has no idea why someone would try to kill him, clearly that’s exactly what happened. When an SUV forced Josh’s car off the road and into a river, it might have been an accident. But when Josh looked up at the road, expecting to see the SUV’s driver rushing to help him, all he saw was the driver watching him calmly…then giving him a “thumbs down” sign. That was merely the first attempt on Josh’s life, all of them designed to look like accidents, and all of them very nearly fatal. With his time—and maybe his luck—running out and no one willing to believe him, Josh had better figure out who wants him dead and why…before it’s too late.

Praise for the book:

“An impressive debut.” — Mystery Scene Magazine

“Simon Wood…delivers a suspenseful, brisk tale in his debut.” — South Florida Sun Sentinel

“A thriller at its best.” — I Love A Mystery

“A briskly plotted thriller that uses point of view shifts better than any novel I’ve read in quite a while in his debut.” — CrimeSpree Magazine

The eBook version is available from these locations: Kindle ~ Kindle UK ~ Smashwords

For bookstore locations, contact me and I’ll let you know about the ones I know about. Like I say, it’s a hard book to find these days.

Next week, I’ll discuss the real life incidents and practices that inspired the book.

Seeing as I now own the rights to ex-Dorchester titles, I’ve now converted them to eBooks. Accidents Waiting to Happen, Paying the Piper, We All Fall Down & Terminated are currently available for Kindle in the US & UK and on Smashwords.com. They’ll be available for the Nook, Sony, Kobo and iPad in the next few weeks. I’m especially happy as Accidents Waiting to Happen has never been available as an eBook before.
