A little while ago, I was challenged to come up with my top 25 horror films of the 2000’s, so as Halloween is approaching, here’s my list…which isn’t 25 films long…oh, and yes, there’s honorable mentions too. Enjoy!

Top 25 horror movies of the 2000’s.

  1. The Ring (2003) – Better than the Japanese original. Still gets under my skin.
  2. Session 9 (2001) – Just raw and uncomfortable
  3. The Babysitter (2017) – A love letter to 80’s horror
  4. Dog Soldiers (2003) – The performances just make this gold
  5. Below (2003) – Underrated ghost story
  6. Saw (2004) – The reveal just changes everything
  7. Black Phone (2021) – Succeeds where so many other failed

  9. Unbreakable (2001) – A unique look at superheroes

  11. Series 7: The Contenders (2007) – Reality TV at its lowest
  12. Bone Tomahawk (2015) – Just brutal
  13. P2 (2007) – Well done considering this has two characters
  14. One Missed Call (2003) – My favorite J-horror flick
  15. One Missed Call 2 (2005) – A raw instance where the sequel is just as good
  16. Final Girls (2015) – Horror comedy done right with a ton of heart
  17. The Passenger (2023) – A rare Blumhouse flick that slays
  18. Final Destination (2000) – It knew how to make me squirm
  19. Alien vs Predator (2004) – Way better than everyone gives it credit for
  20. Nope (2002) – Heavily flawed but a visual treat
  21. V/H/S (2012) – Just love the format (pun kind of intended)
  22. Borderland (2007) – It’ll make you squirm
  23. Brotherhood of the Wolf (2001) – A good looking film
  24. Pontypool (2008) – Great film but the post credit ending doesn’t work
  25. Dawn of the Dead (2004) – The remake is better
  26. Let the right one in (2008) – That ending just kicks you in the guts
  27. Grace (2008) – Just an absorbing story with great performances
  28. Dead End (2007) – Wonderful flick but doesn’t stick the ending

  6. Belko experiment (2016) – Better than I thought

  10. Wind chill (2007) – A ghost story that sucked me in
  11. Frozen (2010) – Punches above its weight
